You may not know Camden Thrasher's name, but if you've picked up a copy of Road & Track magazine over the last 10 years, odds are you've seen his handiwork. He's one of the best professional photographers around, portraying the machines we love with an unmatched eye. He's also very much one of us, with a stable that includes a BMW 2002 converted to a modern inline six and hilarious off-road suspension. And importantly, he's always down for whatever stupidity we have banging around our heads. Years ago, he was on hand to capture the agony of sinking a buddy's CJ2A in three feet of sandy water during a comparison with a Polaris General of all things. Did I mention it was in February?

When he's not entertaining our stupidity or pointing his camera at IMSA racers, he spends his time ripping around the country to photograph military aircraft. The results are absolutely insane, and very much worth checking out on his instagram. While lesser men would splash out on a new Land Cruiser to handle the thousands of miles he covers every month, Thrasher's whip of choice is Toyota 100 Series. Specifically, a Lexus LX470. This is no mom mobile, though. It has trail rash from North Carolina to Southern California and everywhere in between, and is set up to be both domicile and photo studio.

Custom cabinets, a sleeping pad, a stove, and nothing else. The irony is that if you walked up on this machine in a parking lot, you'd have no idea it was set up for extended time in the back country. Light bars? Doofy bumpers? A winch? Who needs 'em?

Not Thrasher. With over 500,000 miles of hard living on the odometer, this rig might be the best advertisement for the golden age of Toyota, and the 100 Series specifically. Roll on, big rig.
