CF Moto's Ibex 950 Looks a Lot Like a Discount KTM 890
CF Moto has been building engines for the KTM 790 and 890 lineup since the Austrians debuted the parallel twin adventure bikes in 2019. When Mattighofen decided to reserve its legendary v-twins for its biggest and most expensive bikes, CF Moto stepped in to kick out the characterful, powerful parallels that would power its all-new ADV bikes.
Almost eight years on, CF Moto is one of the fastest-growing powersports companies in the US market, and it's got a pair of solid adventure bikes of its own — the lightweight Ibex 450, and the middleweight Ibex 800 E. For 2027, CF Moto has introduced the fullsize Ibex 950, which uses a version of the KTM 890's mill, and saddle-style gas tanks that look super familiar.
By keeping the weight of the gas low and wide, CF Moto is going for a low center of gravity and a bike that won't lie all the way down if you drop it. It's right out of the KTM design manual. It doesn't take long to find roughly 4,000 YouTube reviews saying how great this design feature is.

CF Moto separated the Ibex 950 from the KTM in a few key ways. First, as the name implies, the engine is slightly bigger, at 946 cc. CF claims it's good for 112 horsepower, which is roughly nine more than the KTM. The Ibex is also heavier, at 489 pounds ready-to-ride, versus the KTM at about 470 fully fueled. The Ibex 950 has an ever-so-slightly lower seat than the KTM, and an eight-inch TFT display. The 890 makes do with a five-inch display.
And now, the final on-paper gotcha: CF Moto lists the Ibex 950 at $12,499 before freight, setup, dealer fees, and taxes. The 2026 KTM 890 Adventure R commands $16,299 before fees and taxes.
We'll call that a spec sheet win for the Ibex, despite the slight weight disadvantage. We can't wait to throw our leg over the big CF Moto when it goes on sale late this year as a '27 model.
