This 2024 Gas Gas EW500F is a street-legal, uncorked hooligan from KTM's Spanish subsidiary. Gas Gas is a storied Spanish marque, but since KTM's acquisition in 2020, the bikes have been stripped down "red KTMs." The frame, engine, brakes, and suspension are all from the Austrian brand. The difference? Gas Gas was aligned as KTM's "bargain" brand, so the EW500F gets WP's more basic Xplor open-cartridge forks and XACT linkage shock, and goes without a fuel mapping switch. The EW500F was originally intended as an emissions and green sticker-compliant off-road only trail bike, but this one is fully street legal.
This 2024 Gas Gas EW500F has also been "uncorked," with an FMF Q4 header-back exhaust, an ECU re-flash, and deleted emissions equipment. The aftermarket pipe includes a USFS-compliant spark arrestor. It also has a Sicass dual sport kit, which includes a horn, high and low-beam headlight switch, brake switches, a brake light, and a license plate bracket. The bike wears Dunlop D606 tires front and rear that are balanced with spoke weights for street use. The bike has just 140 miles and eight hours on the chassis and engine and has had two break-in oil changes.
This Gas Gas is a great lightweight dual sport bike that will pull the front wheel on command, and can easily tackle tight, wooded trails and has been used as an enduro bike. It's a workout in the woods, but when the trail opens up, the 500 shines. It's a great mount for anything from desert racing to hare scrambles to fast dual sport work.
