Marietta, GA.
This 2010 Yamaha WR250R is about a clean as you could ask a 16-year-old dual sport with 10,000 miles on it to be. It's set up as a backcountry explorer, with some nice protection mods, new Tusk tires, and a sweet GYTR exhaust.
The WR250R was Yamaha's answer to the venerated Suzuki DR-Z 400, and it was quite the shot across the big 'Zook's bow. When it debuted in 2008, the WR250R brought modern suspension, electronic fuel injection, an aluminum frame, and a sixth gear to the dual-sport party. Before this thing arrived, if you wanted a plated dirtbike, you more or less had to settle for something carbureted, heavy, and slow, or suffer the reliability woes of mid- late-aughts European bikes.
But the WR showed Suzuki and Kawasaki that dual sports could be reliable, accessible, and desirable. No more making excuses for your ugly, heavy, ancient dual sport. Unlike KLR and DR riders, nobody on a WR250R has ever felt the need to justify their purchase to disinterested passerby by quoting the valve check intervals. But, speaking of that, Yamaha quoted a bananas 26,600-mile valve check interval for the WR. On a bike with adjustable suspension, almost as much power as a DR-Z, and a sub-300-pound curb weight.
This WR250R has been well kept, nicely upgraded, and is absolutely ready to hit your closest gravel road or trail network. It'll save you a pile of money and be as reliable as the sunrise. Can't say fairer than that.
