This 2008 Yamaha WR250R is as sturdy, capable, friendly, and loyal as an old quarter horse. It is Goldilocks dual sport — lighter and more modern than a Suzuki DR-Z, cheaper and more reliable than a KTM, and comfy enough to put down big miles. It's not the quickest dirt bike ever built, but it will make a DR-Z look silly, and its suspension is light years ahead of the stodgy old 'Zook. The WR is just as happy to take you to work five days a week as it is to tackle the Trans-America trail or your trail park.

In fact, this bike was set up for and completed the TAT about 10 years ago. It has plenty of cosmetic scars from that trip and subsequent use as a trail bike, but it is just as reliable now as it was then. Its fuel injection is controlled by a Power Commander, and it has a GYTR exhaust. The stock pipe is included. The bike has better than 20,000 miles on the original engine, but starts, runs, and rides very well. It will come with a new set of OEM Yamaha plastic body work.

It wears a YamaLink rear lowering link, but the suspension is otherwise stock. It will come with the original linkage arms if you want to put it back to stock height. It has a Flatland skid plate, HDB hand guarads, and Pivot Pegz footpegs. It got new Shinko tires and Michelin tubes last fall. The tires have fewer than 1,000 miles on them.
