DIRTHAMMER SAYS

A written description of this bike seems like kind of a moot point after that photo gallery. This is an early production 1988 BMW R100GS. It's black and yellow, but it lacks the yellow seat and tank decals that made the bike iconic. Instead, it's got a beautiful, understated blue and yellow pin stripe job on the tank. The yellow forks and shock spring set off the black bodywork. They're also a calling card for BMW motorcycle fans: Yes, this is one of those.
BMW's R/GS bikes are universally accepted as the first of the big adventure bikes. The R80G/S kicked off the blood line in the early 1980s, but the R100GS made the name a legend. From Dakar wins to a phalanx of legendary round-the-world rides, R100GSes have shown how durable, comfortable, and willing the platform is. Even with 38 years and 36,230 miles under its belt, we wouldn't be scared to hop on this gorgeous GS and head for California tomorrow.
It has a few dings and scratches from its years and use, but has been owned by a couple fastidious enthusiasts, including a BMW MOA chapter president. It's been properly maintained, kept clean, and loved. It comes with a few spare parts and books, and crucially, its original BMW hard saddlebags. It's got a steel luggage rack for whatever won't fit in the bags.
Here's how serious DirtHammer is about this bike: If you all don't bid hot and heavy out of the gate, there's a better than even chance one of us will beat you to it.
