NO RESERVE!
This 1977 Yamaha DT250 is a great survivor-spec machine that is ready to be restored to true museum standards, or left as-is and used as a dirt capable classic cruiser. It's listed at NO RESERVE, so if old-school two-stroke enduros are your jam, get bidding now!
The DT250 was built from 1971 to 1982, and was one of the original dual-sport bikes. Built to be light, cheap, fun, and capable, the DT was still a pretty advanced machine for its day. In an era when the vast majority of two strokes required pre-mixed fuel, the DT sported the Autolube oil injection system. It also ran Yamaha's Monoshock swingarm, which was a direct lift from the company's successful motocross bikes. The 17-horsepower DTs were a hit for Yamaha, and helped ignite the dual-sport motorcycle market.
This bike has a bunch of brand-new parts, and as far as we can tell has spent very few of its 16,700 miles off road. It has a fresh spark plug, new reeds, and a freshly rebuilt carburetor. The Autolube system works as it should. It has new grips, new cables, and a new six-volt battery. The inside of the original gas tank is super clean. It could use a little bit of fine tuning, and the petcock and base gasket both weep.
As it sits, this bike is perfect for coffee shop runs, cruising around town, or as an awesome conversation-starting pit bike.
