This 1974 Heald VT-8 Super Bronc is a museum-quality example of a rare, beloved large-format mini bike. The Heald Super Bronc was a kit bike produced from the mid-70s to the late '80s in Michigan. They sold in relatively small numbers, but a cult of die-hards grew up around them, and every once in a while you see one this nice come along.

DirtHammer co-founder Colin Comer has owned this Super Bronc for the last 30 years, and eight years ago had it lovingly and painstakingly restored. It got stripped to a bare metal chassis, the wheels and frame got new powdercoat, and it was reassembled with all original Super Bronc parts. Comer spared zero expense, and the 295-mile bike looks like it was just assembled. It runs and rides flawlessly, and gets power from a 306cc Tecumseh single rated for eight horsepower. The engine is mated to a CVT transmission, which allows a claimed top speed of 45 mph. With its gigantic tires and extremely rudimentary suspension, we're not sure we'd brave such velocities, but to each their own.

No matter what, this Super Bronc is a flawless example of a cult classic mini bike from the golden age of wild off-road powersports machines. Comer's fleet is famous for being perfect, and this is no exception. If you've been looking for a Super Bronc, you absolutely will not find a nicer one.
