DIRTHAMMER SAYS
Alcoa, TN
This is a super solid survivor 1973 Jeep CJ-5 Renegade with a stack of new parts, a clean title, and absolutely gorgeous patina. It's not a Concours-perfect example, but it's one of the coolest driver-quality Jeeps we've ever seen, and it is largely unmolested. It's got a couple scars from its 53 years, but nothing that keeps it from being an excellent cruiser. It belongs to DirtHammer CEO Zach Bowman, who regularly uses it to knock down 300-plus mile weekend cruises.
It packs the factory original AMC 304 V8 backed by a T-18 three-speed manual transmission and a two-speed transfer case. The Autolite 2100 carb is a tad rich, but the Jeep runs well and doesn't misfire.
The original Warn Lock-o-Matic hubs work, and the Jeep has a 2.5-inch lift with new shocks and military wrap springs. Bowman also treated the rig to a brand new set of Patriot headers along with a new exhaust and Magnaflow muffler. It's got a lovely burble without being loud enough to piss off your neighbors.
Bowman also replaced a bunch of worn out and consumable parts. The Jeep has new US Wheel steel wagon wheels and BF Goodrich KM3 tires in 32x9.50/16, along with new brake cylinders, shoes, soft hoses, and master cylinder. The rig also got a new alternator and voltage regulator and a new starter.
This is one of the coolest classic Jeeps we've come across. With its long list of new parts and undeniable charisma, it's a turn-key cruiser for either a hardcore Jeep enthusiast or someone who just wants the coolest rig at the local cruise night. It comes with its original soft top, new seat upholstery, a complete set of original seats, and a disassembled AMC Warn 8274 winch.
