This 1951 Willys Wagon is a survivor out of a private collection in unrestored condition, with its original paint and gorgeous patina. It's a rolling, four-wheel drive museum of mid-century American Art Deco industrial design. This machine was kept in a private collection in Lynchburg, Virginia for many years and avoided the road salt and rust issues that plague many old four-wheel drives in the Mid-Atlantic.
This truck recently got a bunch of new parts, and comes with a bunch more spares and replacement parts. Recent work included changing the ignition and charging system over to 12 volts, which included a new coil, rotor, cap, plugs, and wires, and an Optima Red Top battery. It has new Destone tires.
The list of new bits includes a complete wiring harness, brake soft lines, and a new brake master cylinder. This rig is very, very close to being a super solid driver. If that's not your thing, we can't think of a better candidate for a full restoration. It wouldn't need a ton of body work or rust repair to be ready for a properly nice paint job.
The interior of this '51 needs the most attention. The seat upholstery throughout the interior needs to be redone, and the springs and stuffing in the original seats are tired.
Overall, this is an incredibly solid classic rig that would make an excellent weekend driver with just a little work, or is an excellent candidate for a full resto. We'd fix what's broken, get the seats reupholstered over the winter, and send it.
